History

In 1850 Jean Rompel founded his first butchers in a little house on the market in Friedrichsdorf. Soon after the opening, more space was needed. A couple of houses up the Hugonottenstreet, Jean found a new location - back then called the "Gaasebersch", this is where the Lindenhof stands today.

There have since followed five generations of our family, which have all been destined to look after the well-being of the guests. As the requirements of the guests continuously developed, so has the Lindenhof.

From the little butchers grew a guesthouse, which was managed by our grandparents. Many of the old residents of Friedrichsdorf remember the stories as if it was yesterday, especially those about our grandmother Thea.

Her youngest son Hans took over the family business in 1972 together with his wife Bärbel who he met and fell in love with in Berlin - not least because she was also born into a traditional hotelier family. They bought the neighbouring land upon which the current hotel Lindenhof stands, which my sister Alexandra and I took over in 2005. After many years abroad, we have come back to our roots. Times are changing and always will! That is how it came that we as siblings took over and renovated the Lindenhof and restored it to its original purpose: a cosy living room for the residents of Friedrichsdorf, as well as for travellers from far away places. A place where you meet people, enjoy a good glas of wine and where time does not play an important role. Just as it was in our fathers' times.

We have brought back many ideas from our various trips abroad, which we have carefully integrated into our "Landgasthof-Hotel Lindenhof" concept. Come and see for yourself!

With the birth of Rosalia in 2006 and the birth of Til in 2008 we now have the seventh generation which we can be proud of. Who knows maybe they will write the next chapter of the Landgasthof-Hotel Lindenhof story...
